CARING FOR YOUR BIKINI IN AN ECO FRIENDLY WAY
You’ve just received your Sommer Swim bikini and are thinking of all the summer destinations you’ll be wearing your swimwear to in the coming years. If cared for properly, your Sommer Swim bikini will be with you every beach club and island destination along the way. To make sure you’re getting the most out of your Sommer Swim bikini, we have put together some eco-friendly low impact approaches to help care for your swimwear.
HANDWASHING
First and foremost, we love to handwash our bikinis! Not only is it better for the environment, it will guarantee your Sommer Swim bikini retains colour brightness, shape, and longevity. The easiest way to handwash your bikini is to take it into the shower with you after the beach or pool, and rinse under cold running water. Make sure to always cold rinse your bikinis after each use, even if you haven’t used them for swimming.
AIR-DRYING
Ditch the clothes dryer and the greenhouse emissions! Air-drying is environmentally friendly and a great way to refresh your garment and remove any bad odours, naturally. To do so you can hang your suits or lay them flat on a clean surface in the shade immediately after rinsing. Remember to make sure your swimwear is out of direct sunlight and away from any rough surfaces.
BIODEGRADABLE SOAP
If your swimwear has tanning oil or sunscreen marks you can use an all-natural biodegradable soap, such as Dr. Bronners to spot-clean, or The Laundress nontoxic Wash & Stain Bar.
STORAGE
Make use of your cotton Sommer Swim dust bag to keep swimwear fresh, protected, and separate from other items in your drawers.
ALTERNATE STYLES
We know you want to wear your Sommer Swim to every sun-drenched occasion, however, the key to making your swimwear last longer is waiting until they’re completely dry before wearing again. If you’re planning a weekend getaway or month-long vacation, we suggest investing in a few different styles of bikinis to mix & match – this way you’ll never be caught without your Sommer Swim!
